The Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County is recruiting for Senior Laboratory Technician - Diver in Carson at our Laboratory Section of our Joint Water Pollution Control Plant. The Sanitation Districts are a non-civil service public agency separate from Los Angeles County government. The Districts serve the wastewater and solid waste management needs of approximately 5.6 million people across a service area that covers approximately 850 square miles and encompasses 78 cities and unincorporated territory within the county. We are nationally recognized for innovative engineering practices in wastewater treatment, solid waste management, and power generation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

To lead and participate in the collection of environmental samples as well as the performance of a variety of routine and complex non-standardized chemical, biological or microbiological tests and analyses.

EPA Postdoctoral Fellowship in Applied Molecular Ecology

A postdoctoral research project training opportunity is available at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Office of Research and Development (ORD), Center for Environmental Measurement and Modeling (CEMM), Atlantic Coastal Environmental Sciences Division (ACESD) located in Narragansett, Rhode Island.

ACESD conducts research to enhance the understanding of the effects of human activity on land and waters of the Atlantic seaboard. Researchers collect and analyze data to provide tools for diagnosing and predicting the effects of this activity on aquatic resources and wildlife. ACESD provides research support to EPA Program & Regional Offices and state & local governments. Research Project: The focus of this research project is to develop and apply molecular information within an ecological context, to advance EPA's ability to quantitatively predict the ecological risks of human-mediated stressors.

Biologist II positions perform professional, journey-level and more difficult microbiological, biological tests and toxicological analyses and interpretations of potable water, wastewater, ocean and freshwater samples; examine, classify and count aquatic plant and animal specimens; and perform other duties as assigned.
