Instructor of Environmental Science

Loyola Marymount University

The Frank R. Seaver College of Science and Engineering at Loyola Marymount University (LMU) is currently seeking applicants for a non-tenure track, full-time Instructor of Environmental Science (ENVS). This position begins January 6, 2025 and includes teaching and service commitments over the 9-month academic year (August 15 – May 15). The appointment is for three years, renewable upon recommendation of the Environmental Science Program and approval by the Dean.

The successful candidate is expected to teach undergraduate lecture and laboratory courses in environmental science. Many of these courses serve LMU’s Core Curriculum (https://academics.lmu.edu/corecurriculum/). The candidate may also teach upper division electives within the candidate’s area of expertise for ENVS or a related science program. Candidates will help with the Environmental Science Program’s assessment, curriculum updates, and may be asked to represent ENVS on relevant College or University committees.

Successful candidates must have an advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in Environmental Science, or a closely related field, before the appointment commences. They must be committed to excellence in teaching our diverse student population and to work to promote equitable and inclusive classrooms and collaboration spaces.
