CWH is hiring an experienced Staff Scientist to support our watershed and green infrastructure monitoring efforts. This position will report to our Senior Scientist and conduct monitoring, data analysis, and assist in project management. We’re seeking a well-rounded, adaptable, and creative individual with a relevant background in chemistry, biology, ecology, civil and environmental engineering or environmental sciences. The Staff Scientist will work directly, under the guidance of the Senior Scientist, with representatives of municipalities, agencies, and consultants to ensure project deliverables are on schedule and within budget. The Staff Scientist will train and lead field staff and interns in conducting stream and green infrastructure monitoring efforts. The successful candidate will have skills to coordinate and support multiple projects simultaneously, thrive working in multi-disciplinary teams and in a fast-paced work environment, and have experience or competency in the following responsibilities.

Assistant Professor - Chemistry

The Assistant Professor, Chemistry position provides instruction to general education students, students who wish to major in chemistry, and students pursuing degrees in other science, math, and engineering disciplines at the community college level. This position would create course materials, such as syllabi, lectures, homework, quizzes, exams, lab manuals, etc. Evaluate and grade students’ homework, laboratory work, and assignments. Demonstrate and explain physical experiments during physical laboratory hours that develop the critical thinking skills of students. Teach courses during evenings and/or weekends if required. Water Quality Manager

Staff Scientist (Full Time position)
Pacific EcoRisk

As a staff scientist, you will operate as a key member of the laboratory team, with responsibilities encompassing a full range of laboratory functions and activities. The primary purpose of this position is to fulfill the daily testing needs and general operation of the laboratory, including testing and field sampling. This position includes, but is not necessarily limited to, the daily performance of acute and chronic freshwater, estuarine/marine, sediment, and terrestrial toxicity tests, including familiarization and fluency in the associated testing protocols (e.g., standard operating procedures, test manuals, and demonstration of capability), data acquisition, recording, review, statistical analyses, and electronic data deliverables. This position may include the design, execution, and management of special studies, including, but not necessarily limited to, Toxicity Identification Evaluations (TIEs), water-effect ratios (WERs), and chemical spiking studies. This position may include special assignments in quality assurance, safety, training, and equipment maintenance, including assistantships with the Laboratory Manager and/or Quality Assurance Manager (e.g., Assistant Lab Manager, Assistant Quality Assurance Manager) and Project Managers. This position requires that the candidate exercise advanced biological, chemical, and ecological knowledge to make and interpret observations being made during testing. This position will require the candidate to adhere to the Pacific EcoRisk’s Quality Manual.
